Williamsfield Cemetary
Records copied from 1976 Spoon River Chapter of the DAR
In May 1894, M.C. Spangler purchased a five acre tract of land one half mile North of town
where he started the Williamsfield Cemetery. He continued to own it until about 1923
when he sold it to Churchill Construction Co. of Bushnell, Illinois, who in the fall of
1924 built a fine Mausoleum there containing 100 crypts. Three years later a local
Cemetery Association was formed and the Burial Ground became local property. Since
that time many improvements have been made.
A complete list of all recorded lot owners and Mausoleum deeds, and a list of burials as
taken from Tombstones to December 1, 1972, are on the following pages.
